TEDx Talk: Brave Parenting

“Instead of parenting for comfort, we should be parenting for confidence. Dr. Kathryn Hecht challenges the instinct to shield children from anxiety and uncertainty, advocating instead for brave parenting—a mindset that helps kids build resilience by facing fears head-on. Braver kids, she believes, are the foundation of a better world.”

I was invited to give my very own TEDx talk at the 2025 TEDxMinneapolis event, Life Rewritten, on the topic of brave parenting.

The event, held at Orchestra Hall, was magic, and I can’t wait for the recording to be released. It’s not out yet though, because TED’s publicity team has it in their hands- TED has selected the talk as one of their Editor’s Picks! I’m incredibly honored and thrilled that TED feels this is a message worth spreading. I certainly think so.

The talk will be out in the Wild on Wednesday, January 21st, at 10:00am CST. TED has decided this talk is worthy of living on it’s website, ted.com. When the clock strikes 10:00am central on 1/21/26, you can find bravery at: go.ted.com/kathrynhecht
